Allison Giamanco's Homemade Iced Coconut Mocha Macchiato
Introduction:
Hello, coffee connoisseurs and Starbucks enthusiasts! Today I'm thrilled to introduce a homemade version of the Starbucks classic, the Iced Coconut Mocha Macchiato. This delightful concoction combines the rich sweetness of white mocha with the tropical twist of coconut and a bold coffee kick. It’s perfect for those sunny afternoons when you crave something cool and invigorating. I'm Allison Giamanco, and this is your chance to recreate a Starbucks favorite right in your kitchen!
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons white mocha syrup (or to taste)
- 1 cup coconut milk, or enough to fill your glass to the top line
- Ice cubes (as needed)
- 1 espresso shot (or 1/3 cup strong brewed coffee if espresso is not available)
- Caramel drizzle (to taste)
- Homemade mocha sauce (equal parts Hershey's cocoa powder and white sugar, with water to achieve a "wet paint" consistency)
Instructions:
1. Begin by preparing your homemade mocha sauce. Mix together equal parts of Hershey’s cocoa powder and white sugar, then slowly add water until you achieve the consistency similar to wet paint. Set aside.
2. Take your glass and pour in the white mocha syrup. Using a tablespoon measure can help ensure you have the right amount - here we're aiming for 2 tablespoons.
3. Fill the glass with coconut milk up to the top line. Be sure to leave enough room for your ice and espresso shot.
4. Add ice to the glass until it is almost full, leaving just enough space for the espresso shot.
5. Brew your espresso shot. If you don't have an espresso machine, strong brewed coffee can serve as a substitute.
6. Pour the freshly brewed espresso shot over the ice and coconut milk mixture.
7. Generously drizzle the top with caramel and your homemade mocha sauce, creating a beautiful pattern that circles around the cup.
8. Before enjoying, you can choose to stir the mixture to combine all the layers or enjoy it as is, with the flavors gradually mixing as you drink.
