Experience the intense and rich flavors of Italy at home with this Ristretto coffee recipe. A Ristretto is a "restricted" espresso shot, offering a more concentrated and aromatic coffee experience. With just a few essential ingredients and the right equipment, you can master this coffee art with ease.

Ingredients

☕ Freshly Roasted Coffee Beans Preferably a lighter roast
💧 Water Used as part of the espresso brewing process

Instructions

1- Preparation:

  • Start by purging the group head of your Breville Bambino® Plus espresso machine to ensure it's preheated and clean.
  • Remove the portafilter and dry it thoroughly with a cloth.

2- Grinding:

  • Use the Breville Smart Grinder™ Pro to grind your choice of freshly roasted coffee beans directly into the portafilter.
  • Ensure you have an even heap of coffee grounds.

3- Settle and Tamp:

  • Gently tap the portafilter against the counter to settle the grounds evenly.
  • Use the tamper to press the coffee grounds evenly with consistent pressure. A level tamp is crucial for an optimal extraction.

4- Dose Check:

  • Utilize the Breville Razor tool to scrape off excess grounds and confirm the perfect dose.

5- Brewing:

  • Secure the portafilter back into the group head.
  • Place two shot glasses beneath the espresso machine spouts.

6- Extraction:

  • Press the two-cup button on the Breville Bambino® Plus.
  • Monitor the espresso; once it starts flowing (around 8-10 seconds), ensure you cut the shot short at 15-20 ml 0.5-0.7 fl oz per cup within 20-25 seconds.

7- Serve and Enjoy:

  • Serve the Ristretto immediately in the shot glasses.
  • Appreciate the vibrant crema on top and savor the deep, bold flavors.
