Coffee Musings | New Is Not Always Better

During the beginning of the year, we decided to go for coffee at another place. This was a recommendation. So, we went over to Hato Grill. This is a sort of fancy supermarket that includes many areas plus a restaurant. I was told coffee there is good. However, there was a surprise in store for the day.

I had to wait for @octocel for some minutes because she was looking for the place. Using Google Maps isn't a saving grace in this city. When she arrived, we grabbed a table. The place was very loud. It didn't help that the televisions inside where all tuned in the game of the national football team. They were playing against the USA. Venezuela lost that game pretty badly. It was a friendly match, but it was a mess of a match.

Because of this, it took a while to get our orders sorted. The waiters were all enticed with the game. That's strike number two. The first one was the noise. The TVs could've definitely been on lower volume.

We asked for a latte and a mochaccino. I tend to go for the latter just to get a glimpse of what people do with their coffee. Although, having an espresso is also a sign of the quality of coffee in a place. The cups arrived with some art on top of them. Once the preliminary photos were ready, we go to sip in the beverages.

My coffee was too sweet for my liking. It is like they added chocolate syrup to the cup with a lot of sugar. I tend not to sweeten my coffee, but this was just sugar and a it of chocolate taste. By far, it is the worst mochaccino I have had in a long time. Then, factor the noise and the delay and the whole new experience was actually bad.

The only saving thing to the date was that her coffee was good and of course, the company and the whole of nonsense and other topics that made me forget for a moment that coffee for too sweet.
